Speakers of the 2009 USHCC Latina Leadership Summit
Linda Denny Linda Denny, speaker for the Latina Leaders’ Luncheon, is the President and the CEO of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), The WBENC is the leading organization that works for the advance of women's supplier businesses to corporations in the United States. She has also been part of recognized organizations such as the Advisory Board of the IBM-World Bank, Small/Medium Business Growth Project; the Treasurer of the Women's Leadership Board at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University ; the Board of Directors at the National Women's History Museum; the W/MBE Diversity Committee for the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Office Depot Women's Advisory Board and a Founding Board Member of the, Association of Women's Business Development Centers.
Bill Ritter Jr. Governor Bill Ritter Jr., speaker for the Latina Leaders’ Luncheon, has been the current governor of Colorado since 2007. Before his election in 2006, Governor Ritter worked as the District Attorney for Denver. He is the first native-born governor of the State of Colorado since 1975, as well as being the first Democratic governor to serve with a Democratic majority in the Colorado General Assembly in 50 years. As a democrat, Mr. Ritter supports universal healthcare, environmental protection, housing subsidy and welfare. Governor Ritter is leading Colorado forward by establishing the state as a modern producer and manufacturer of clean modern energy technologies. He is also working towards reducing Colorado’s susceptibility to climate change by reducing emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases.
Julie Stav Julie Stav, speaker for the Tribute to Latina Trail Blazers, is well known to both Hispanic and mainstream media as the go-to expert on financial topics concerning US Hispanics. Her ability to communicate her deep knowledge of finance has brought her to become a best-selling author and a national Latina television & radio celebrity. Ms. Stav completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Loyola Marymount University and became a teacher and area advisor to the LAUSD’s bilingual education program. Co-founder of the magazine Tu Dinero, Ms. Stav received in 2008 the prestigious Visionary award from the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE). Through her two books Get your share and Fund your future, Julie Stav demystified investments and finance and became a reference on all financial issues.
Carolynne White, speaker for the Latina Networking Procurement Breakfast, is a Shareholder in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. Ms. White has a vast experience in state and local legislative law, land use issues and water and natural resource matters. Carolynne White has worked as a staff attorney in the legal department for the Denver Water Board. She has also been the staff attorney for the Colorado Municipal League. The experience woman possesses a B.A. at the University of New Mexico and a J.D. at the University of Denver. She also received her M.B.A and her M.U.R.P from the University of Colorado at Denver.
